Message from the Director

Nobuya Inagaki, Director
Institute for Advancement of Clinical and Translational Science (iACT)

Institute for Advancement of Clinical and Translational Science (iACT) is a clinical research support organization established in April 2020 by the developmental reorganization of the five clinical research-related organizations of the hospital (Institute for Advancement of Clinical and Translational Science, Clinical Research Center for Medical Equipment Development, Preemptive Medicine and Lifestyle Related Diseases Research Center, Clinical Bio-Resource Center, and Kyoto Innovation Center for Next Generation Clinical Trials and iPS Cell Therapy). It was established as the center for accelerating the development of pharmaceuticals and medical devices in Japan by rapidly translating the world's most advanced research seeds into clinical applications in an integrated approach.

We have three policies for the management of the organization.
The first is "Science", which aims to promote research and development by taking advantage of Kyoto University's strengths and to provide strategic research support based on rapid decision-making.
The second is ”Finance”, which aims to break away from dependence on limited public research funding, improve operational efficiency, and become more self-reliant by utilizing internal and external resources and increasing income from corporate clinical trials.
The third is “Human Resources”, which aims to strengthen human resources through practical training of support personnel and to continuously secure and train human resources from a long-term perspective.

By supporting clinical research based on these policies, we will strive to deliver the results of medical research to patients as quickly and reliably as possible.
